Professor Sexton is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management. He spent eighteen years in retail operations to include, seven years as a buyer. Though his Industry experience was in Operations and Marketing, his degrees are in Human Resource Management. Professor Sexton teaches Business Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Management Concepts and Communicating in Business. He has dedicated the last 7 years to designing, creating, and delivering on-line (web-based) content using WebCT Campus Edition©, WebCT Vista© , and Blackboard© Learning Management Systems (LMS) platforms.

Professor Sexton’s outside activities includes consulting with small businesses, agri-businesses, and non-profit organizations in the areas of Corporate Strategy, Branding and Organizational Communication. He has worked with the City of Seagoville, Texas to include strategic direction, capital improvements, and tax base planning. In addition, he produces audio recordings (voice-overs) for educational programs and documentaries.

Professor Sexton is the faculty advisor for the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization. He is also a member of the Academy of Management, the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Texas Farm Bureau, and Beta Gamma Sigma (national scholastic honor society).

Awards and Honors:

2001 - 2002 Outstanding Teaching Award, presented by the Council of Business Students.

2006 UNT Outstanding Online Teacher / Course of the Year, presented by UNT President Dr. Gretchen Bataille.

2007 Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow
