OUR VISION
The vision of the NPD Scholars Program is to be the leading comprehensive certificate program of its kind in the nation and to have a national and international reputation in teaching, research and students' work-related experience. The Program will integrate the resources and expertise of faculty and corporate sponsors and stakeholders for the benefit of students in order to achieve our mission.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the NPD Scholars Program is to offer theoretical, practical, and research-based education in product/service development and brand management to motivated students with the purpose of creating for students, the relevant competitive advantages in business, marketing, managerial and leadership skills needed in today's fast changing technological, multicultural and global business environment.
OUR GOALS
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by striving to become the leading comprehensive certificate program of its kind in the nation.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by providing related apprenticeship opportunities and experiences.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by generating highly educated and motivated students capable of achieving successful career opportunities and leadership positions with organizations, small and large.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by providing resources and networking opportunities for students, faculty, the business community and researchers.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by nurturing and sustaining educational and learning opportunities in the form of basic and applied research articles publishable in related high ranking academic journals and in the delivery of executive seminars and conference presentations.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by encouraging strong ties with Executive Advisory Board and also, by promoting student organization as a basis for long-term educational experience.
- To create value for our students and stakeholders by providing qualified scholar-graduates for the North Texas Region (DFW Metroplex), the state of Texas and the nation as a whole.
SUCCESS
- The NPD Scholars Program continues to receive positive feed-back from our students, the Department of Marketing & Logistics faculty, the Executive Advisory Board, the University of North Texas System Administration, and the local business community.
- Between 35 and 40 students are enrolled in the program and interviews of applicants for the program is on-going with the view of reaching approximately 50 students at any one time.
- Following a well-publicized and news-worthy article on the program in The Dallas Morning News in June 2006, and also, the airing of several promotional sessions with Radio Stations in the DFW Metroplex, The Chancellor of the University of North Texas System, Mr. Lee Jackson held a high level meeting with the Directors of the program to amplify the aims and objectives of the program. In attendance was the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Kathleen Cooper and other senior administrators of the UNT System.
- The program continues to offer the highly popular Executive Lecture Series where executives from the DFW Metroplex and academic researchers working in the new product/service and brand management domain and from all sectors of industry present topical issues in the subject matter.
- Faculty related with the program continues to direct their research productivity to issues surrounding the new product/service and brand management domain. The latter has resulted in publications in academic journals and presentations at related conferences.
- The NPD Scholars Program also funds a number of scholarships to students on the program and also in the Department of Marketing & Logistics' Doctoral program.
