Summerfield G. Roberts Scholarship

Timothy Anderson

My name is Tim Anderson. I received my undergraduate degree in music from the University of North Texas and graduated magna cum laude. I have completed the necessary background courses in the MBA program and, through the generosity of the donor, I am enabled to continue studying at UNT. In the future, I hope to combine the business knowledge and networks formed through the College of Business Administration with my love for music. I would like to thank the donor for encouraging academic excellence through financial support.

Kristy Hanks

My name is Kristy Hanks and I am originally from Lindsay, Texas. I started UNT as an undergraduate in 1991, took a small detour while serving in the U. S. Air Force, and then returned to UNT. I graduated with a B.S. in Education and taught high school English and coached for two years. I have since joined an instructional management solutions company and I have worked for four years at night and on the weekends to complete my MBA in Operations Management, which I will finish this December. My experience at UNT’s College of Business has been rich and varied. Since I work full time and am also a single mother, it is very difficult to keep on top of everyday expenses, let alone the cost of a graduate degree. I would not have been able to finish without the help of UNT Alumni and the generous donors who reach out to students like myself. I feel blessed that I have not only received an excellent education in business management, but that I have also been acquainted with such a demonstration of stewardship from UNT donors, faculty and administrators.

Jason Levi

I would like to extend my most sincere appreciation for receiving this scholarship. It is truly an honor for me to have been chosen for this award. Let me tell you a little about myself. I am from a small town just south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received a BM in music performance from UNT in the spring of 2004. Around the same time, I started a small business with a friend and decided to pursue a business degree. The classes I’ve taken thus far at UNT have been instrumental in my business’ continued growth and success. The money that has been graciously donated to me is a key part to my success in school and I am forever thankful to those donors.

Alicia Merkel

I am Alicia Merkel from Grapevine, Texas. Currently, I am pursuing an MBA in Strategic Management. I received my bachelor's degree from UNT in December 2004 and graduated summa cum laude. I work two part-time jobs, one of which is at UNT as a graduate assistant in the management department. Outside of school and work, I like to travel, go camping, and spend time with my friends.

The Littlefield scholarship is greatly appreciated and will help to ease my financial obligations. The scholarship will help me to more easily achieve my goal to obtain an MBA.

Lauren Miller

My name is Lauren Miller, and my hometown is Wichita Falls, Texas. I am currently working as a grader for a couple of accounting professors. I am an accounting major, and my specialty area is tax. In December 2005, I will graduate with a BS/MS in Accounting. I will work for KPMG, a public accounting firm, upon graduation.

The Summerfield G. Roberts Scholarship ($1,000) will help relieve me from the financial pressures of attending a university. These scholarships will also allow me to give my full attention to my education.

Pamela Rogers

My name is Pamela Rogers. I was born in Arizona and moved to Texas when the Air Force transferred my father. I received my BBA in Economics/Marketing from Midwestern State University. While an Air Force instructor, I completed an MS in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems at UNT. Upon graduation, I joined the PhD program studying Operations Management and Statistics. My previous business experience includes corporate and military training, software/website development, and various positions in manufacturing. The PhD program has been a challenging and rewarding experience. I teach Operations Management classes, and have presented research at several conferences in areas related to organizational flexibility, supply chain management, and strategy formulation. Thank you to all of the COBA scholarship sponsors for not only helping me but also past and future recipients. With the rising cost of tuition and fees across the country, scholarships make it possible for students to attend quality universities like UNT. I look forward to a time when I can help others with their education as I have been assisted.
